how is odor an issue for you?
I am a triathlete in training. I bicycle to work. I spend my vacations backpacking, kayaking, hiking, spelunking, rollerblading and camping. If it involves being outside, I'm probably willing to try it. All of these things usually end in a not-so-pleasant body stench. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, even if that involves a little sweat!
how did you test the shirt?
Indoor triathlon training during the Wisconsin winter months might actually create more sweat than the outdoor training when it warms up. There's nothing quite like an hour worth of dripping sweat while on a bike trainer in my living room. To put this shirt to the REAL test, I wore it for a few consecutive training rides without washing it in between. Oh, did I mention this was triathlon training? I wore this same unwashed shirt to the YMCA for a few treadmill runs. I hope I didn't scare too many people away. On a secondary test, I wore this shirt while hiking some mountain-like trails near the Lawrence Welk Resort in California while on vacation. Weather was full sun, no wind, and temps in the 80s. The shirt was put to the sweat test that day, no doubt about it!
how did the shirt perform?
The side of the shirt treated for odor control held up (no odor) for about 2 bicycle rides (approx 2 hours). The untreated side collected the same amount of sweat but began to smell within 15 minutes of the first ride. The 2 runs were about 30 minutes each, but by that time the shirt had not been washed in a week and I couldn't stand the stink of the untreated side anymore. Boyfriend unwillingly confirmed there was a difference between the potency of stench on the different sides of the shirt. I washed the shirt before taking it on our California vacation. 2+ hours of hiking in the desert-like mountainous area near the Lawrence Welk Resort made for much sweat. There was a much welcomed wicking quality to the treated side of the shirt. The other half of the shirt felt very clammy and stuck to my skin.
